1967 Bultaco Sherpa T Model 27

1967 Bultaco Sherpa T Model 27 San Antonio, copyright Colección Hermanos LozanoWhen the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Montesa withdrew from racing, disgruntled former employees formed Bultaco. The new company quickly found success in trials racing, and the Sherpa T was perhaps its most famous machine. The lightweight two-stroke was designed with help from Irish racer Sammy Miller, and rendered the traditional heavy four-strokes obsolete. The bike in the picture is a rare Model 27 ‘San Antonio’ from the Colección Hermanos Lozano in Madrid.

    The Bultaco.
    From an older time when trials bikes weren’t expected to do jail-breaks.
    I saw Miller ride his Ariel in period.. and he WAS amazing. But for me, this is his masterwork.. this brought trials bikes into the modern era. It looks soooo simple.. and it is. Simply lovely. I wish it were mine..
