The Venom is perhaps the first motorcycle that springs to mind when Velocette is mentioned, but this MSS has a certain style too. The MSS was launched in 1935, but WWII halted production and it wasn’t until 1954 that an updated, improved model reappeared. It was fitted with sidecar lugs, which this owner has taken [...]

I didn’t realise this machine was a Harley when I first spotted it. It’s the extraordinary creation of Hog Wild Racing, regular winners at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The custom chassis was originally built to fit a Suzuki TL1000R, but upgraded to accommodate a V-Rod engine in 2003. The stock belt has been converted [...]

It’s time we featured a sidecar again and this one from southern Germany is certainly an oddity. It’s a design study from the Uhingen-based sidecar specialist Mobec, based on the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. The body of the 3-Rod is crafted from carbon fiber composite, and underneath is Mobec’s proprietary ‘Duodrive‘ two-wheel-drive system, complete with reverse gear. [...]

Time for something a little offbeat. Michael Krauser is a former sidecar racer who created one of Europe’s biggest BMW dealerships. Famous for organising the huge Krauser Rallies established in the 1970s, he now runs a business selling motorcycle accessories and—you guessed it—BMW-based sidecar rigs. This road-going machine, called dopo-domani, “unites the technology of racing [...]
The latest rig from cult sidecar specialists Ural hits the showrooms this month. The T costs just $9,999 and is powered by Ural’s venerable 750cc flat twin, pumping out 40 solid Siberian horses. The T doesn’t have the on-demand sidecar drive of the Patrol and Gear Up models, but it does have that very handy [...]

Few motorcycles are as tough as the legendary Ural sidecar, built the old-fashioned way in the Irbit MotorWorks Factory, Russia. There’s a small but healthy market for these bulletproof machines outside the Eastern Bloc, helped by some smart marketing. The latest model is the Limited Edition Gear Up Sahara ’09: just 18 units will be [...]

Milan-based CR&S offers a sidecar to pair with its handbuilt, Rotax-powered Vun (‘One’) motorcycle. The 1940s-influenced sidecar can’t carry passengers, but when fastened to the Vun, you can “ride to your final destination with your personal belongings carried inside your sidecar’s wide trunk”. Then you detach the sidecar and race into the hills, presumably. It’s [...]
