Moto Guzzi Griso “Ipothesys”

EXCLUSIVE Here’s a first look at the latest bike designed by Filippo Barbacane of Officine Rossopuro. He’s best known for his classic Moto Guzzi cafe racers, so this Griso, the debut build from a new boutique brand called Ipothesys, is something of a departure for him. It’s a modern take on the classic café racer, built at the behest of entrepreneur Alessandro Loviselli. The heart of the machine is the grunty 1200cc eight-valve Griso motor, and the prototype has just won the first prize at the International Bike Expo in Verona.

Loviselli is pitching Ipothesys as a new motorcycle brand, and it has its own dedicated website. And that’s a fair call, given the modifications to the stock Griso. Barbacane’s brief was to improve the riding position, reduce weight and increase the performance of the suspension and brakes. On paper, Ipothesys should more than live up to those expectations.

The front and rear of the frame have been heavily modified to accommodate the custom tank and bodywork. The suspension is all-new. Up front are massive Marzocchi SBK-spec RAC 50mm forks and
Ergal triple trees, and there’s a premium-spec Bitubo XXF-11 monoshock at the back. The brake system has been completely revamped as well, with Brembo components throughout—including new ‘Groove’ rotors. The wheels help to reduce weight even further, being forged magnesium ‘Cattiva’ items from OZ Racing. They’re shrouded with custom carbon fiber fenders.

Alessandro Loviselli is planning to build a short run of the Ipothesys. And the second model is apparently set to be even sportier than this one. If you’re interested, get more details on the Ipothesys website or send them an email.
