White Hot: Rough Crafts’ Sportster Forty-Eight custom

I’m a huge admirer of Rough Crafts motorcycles. ‘Shattered Pearl’ is the latest build from Winston Yeh, and once again he’s circumvented Taiwan’s tight regulatory restrictions to create a classy yet eye-catching machine. ‘The owner gave me one guideline and nothing else,’ says Yeh. ‘”I know your style and I trust in you, but everybody’s got black bikes. How about a white one?”’

So Yeh took a 2011 Sportster Forty-Eight, and started to design parts in his tiny Taipei workshop. He chopped the frame a little, along with the front end, and fitted his own custom triple trees, risers and bars. The lights, seat, tank and fenders are also of Yeh’s own design, along with the air cleaner and the entire exhaust system. The mid-controls come from a Nightster, with Performance Machine supplying the hand controls.

Grips and pegs are from Todd’s Cycles and the Firestone rubber rolls on 16×3.5 H-D wheels. The job of applying the beautiful paint was given to Benkei Custom Paint Studio. Isn’t it lovely? Head over to this photo album on the Bike EXIF Facebook page for more exclusive images.
