
In the late 1940s, a Lancia engineer called Battista Falchetto had a brainwave. Why not build a motorcycle using the pressed-steel manufacturing techniques of automobiles? A few years later, he hired Gilera designer Piero Remor to turn his vision into metal. The futuristic Motom 98 was unveiled at the 1955 Milan Fair; the British Independent newspaper has the full story.

I think this is only the 2nd picture I have ever seen of the Motom. I love the front fork.
Yes, it’s an incredibly obscure bike on the photography front. A lot of digging around for research, to little avail!
I wonder how they achive damping of the front and rear suspension. Always assuming that they did.
