The thing I like the most about Peter is his single-minded Passion that takes over when he realizes he NEEDS a particular bike. He travels to buy them, he restores them, he buys bikes that are orphaned or ones that he has previously sold and regretted. I always chuckle reading these accounts. He despises no bike. I don’t share his undying love of old Ducatis or Harley dressers, but the way he writes about how happy they make him, makes me happy.

Downside is I’m sharing the recovery aspect he has reported on recently after spending three days in the Trauma unit from the Saturday flattrack prctice. It’ll give me time to re-read his books though!

I have a new found respect for Mr Egan as he gave what is without question the best response ever to question #3: “Gosh, I don’t think I despise any bike that runs and takes you down the road—they’re all fun, by definition.”

The only mainstream magazines I subscribe to are Road and Track and Cycle World, Peter Egan is the reason for both subscrips. I used to get another highly respected car rag also, but when they canned Brock Yates in favor of more childish writers I Quit them. I consider Peter Egan the Johnny Carson of writers, pure class with a touch of maturity that is lacking in most modern journalism.
