German Motorcycle Authority

It’s an odd name for a custom motorcycle builder, and one I haven’t heard before. But the Cologne-based German Motorcycle Authority has created some interesting machines, including this Revtech-powered ‘Billy Bob’. It was one of the classier bikes to take home a trophy at the Custom Chrome European Championship a few days ago, with superlative build quality matched to neat touches—like hydraulic suspension on the very tidy-looking seat unit. The wet weight of Billy Bob is 550 lbs (251kg), a little less than a Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight. However, the Revtech 110 motor puts out around 115 hp, which is probably double the output of the Harley’s 73 cu. in. Evolution motor. That power drives through a six-speed ‘box and should result in impressive performance—Firestone Deluxe tires notwithstanding. Compared to most of the bikes on show at Custom Chrome, this is a restrained effort; for something truly bizarre, check out the German Motorcycle Authority’s twin-engined machine from 2007, TwinTrax.
