Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Wesley Reyneke is the guy behind Rather Be Riding, a blog dedicated to the love of motorcycles and motorcycling.
Despite the fact that his father raced amateur off-road in the early 80s, Wes only started riding motorcycles in earnest 6 years ago (not counting the Honda Express he used to ride to class when he was 19)—and has been making up for lost time ever since. Starting out with a Vespa ET4, he quickly moved over to a BMW F650GS Dakar, clocking miles all over his native South Africa. A couple of dual-sport bikes later, and his love for customs, classics and “retros” developed. His current daily runner is a slightly modified ’84 BMW R100RT, and there’s a partially dismantled ’99 Kawasaki W650 in his garage, awaiting a makeover.
When he’s not busy trying to avoid his day job, he spends his free time running Rather Be Riding, riding his motorcycle, writing articles for Tread Magazine (a South African mountain biking publication), riding his mountain bike, playing with his kids or smacking his drum kit. And no, he’s nowhere near as serious as his mugshot would imply.
Rather Be Riding is currently experiencing a short hiatus. Until it relaunches, follow it on Facebook.
