The stock Honda VT750 (or Shadow) is an unassuming Sportster clone. It’s pitched at beginner riders who prefer easygoing Japanese reliability to Harley’s contrived contemporary image. And like most Hondas, the VT750 is neat and well-designed, but could do with a little more style—or brio. This is what young Italian designer Luca Bar had in [...]

Computer renderings of concept bikes are two-a-penny these days, but this one deserves more attention than most. Metalback comes from a leading automotive designer called Jordan Meadows, and it’s an attempt to marry the ethos of the traditional café racer with contemporary green credentials. “The concept is powered by a v4 engine running on bio [...]
To kick off the arrival of a new decade, I thought I’d check to see which motorcycles have proved most popular with our readers over the past year. And it’s thrown up a few surprises. Even if you saw these bikes the first time round, they’re worth a second look. (And why 11 rather than [...]

Dan Anderson is an Australian industrial designer who, in his own words, is “nuts about bikes”. His Voltra electric sportsbike concept has been attracting attention on the interwebs, but this latest concept is the one we’d rather have in the Bike EXIF garage. It’s a stripped-down, bobber-influenced Bonneville derivative that could be produced by Triumph [...]

Mac is a startup motorcycle manufacturer based in rural England. You might remember that the company caused a flurry of excitement a few months ago, when it released images of four café racer bikes designed by Xenophya. Production plans seemed to be in place, with the bikes built around the motor from the Buell Blast—but [...]

In October 2002, a press release made motorcycle enthusiasts around the world sit up with a jolt. It announced the return of Vincent, one of the most iconic names in motorcycling. At a palatial house in San Diego, self-made millionaire and long-time Vincent aficionado Barney Li whipped the covers off five prototype motorcycles: a ‘Phase [...]

One of the stars of the 1986 Tokyo Motor Show was the Suzuki Nuda concept. The styling attracted a huge amount of attention, and unlike most 20-year-old concept studies, still looks fresh today. The Nuda was reputedly operational and rideable, propelled by the DOHC in-line four GSX-R750 engine; it had two-wheel-drive, with power transmitted via [...]

The anticipation is building for next week’s EICMA motorcycle show. But Milan-based boutique manufacturer CR&S has jumped the gun. It’s released images of its new Duu superbike prototype, powered by the familiar S&S ‘X-Wedge’ V-twin motor. The 2-litre engine of the Duu (a play on ‘due’, Italian for ‘two’) might be familiar, but it’s wrapped [...]

It’s time we featured a sidecar again and this one from southern Germany is certainly an oddity. It’s a design study from the Uhingen-based sidecar specialist Mobec, based on the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. The body of the 3-Rod is crafted from carbon fiber composite, and underneath is Mobec’s proprietary ‘Duodrive‘ two-wheel-drive system, complete with reverse gear. [...]
