Hermann Köpf

For the residents of Barr, a wine-growing village in Alsace, the second weekend in May is a big party. Motorcyclists from all over France, Switzerland and Germany set up camp at the foot of Mont Sainte-Odile, a 760m (2,500 ft) peak in the Vosges Mountains. They’re participants in the annual Barr Hill Race, a colorful cacophony of classic motorcycles and leather-clad riders. Last year, Munich-based photographer Hermann Köpf was there to capture the action; here are some of the images from the resultant 200-page book, Hill Racing in Barr, Alsace.
